October 31st 2025
Tournament Length
This tournament is double elimination.
- Set Length
All tournament sets will be best-of-five (first-to-three) matches with best-of-three (first-to-two) rounds.
- Set Procedure
- Before both players sit down at the console, they must come to an agreement which side they will play on (who will be on the Player One side and who will be on the Player Two side).
- If an agreement cannot be reached, a game of rock paper scissors will determine who gets to pick their side.
- After players sit down and connect their controllers, one of the two players should go to the console menu and remove any existing bluetooth-connected devices that are shown as paired to the console.
- This is a very important step, as it is necessary to avoid the possibility that tournament sets are interrupted.
- Players will then enter offline Versus Mode and ensure that their buttons are set up correctly.
- Players will then select their characters. Either player may elect to do Double-blind Character Selection (see section 6).
- Players will then select a random stage or mutually agreed stage (see section 4).
- The players will then play the first game of the set.
- The winner of the preceding game must keep their character selection for the next game.
- The loser of the preceding game may switch their character selection for the next game.
- The next game will then be played.
- Repeat Steps four through eight for all subsequent games until the set is complete.
- Stage Agreement Clause
- Before both players sit down at the console, they must come to an agreement which side they will play on (who will be on the Player One side and who will be on the Player Two side).
- By default, RANDOM SELECT will be used for selecting a stage. Players may select any LEGAL stage if they both agree on it. Players may not play on illegal stages.
- Set Length Clause
- Players may not change the length/terms of a set. If this rule is violated, both players will be subject to complete disqualification from the event.
- Double-blind Character Selection
- Either player may request that a double blind selection occur. In this situation, a pool captain, referee or other tournament staff will be told, in secret, of Player One’s character. Player Two will select their character, and then Player One will select their character. The referee will then confirm that Player One selected the chosen character.
- Pausing and the Home Button
- If a game pauses during play, players should immediately signal for a Tournament Organizer. Unless the round was going to end due to a K.O., the player whose controller paused the game will receive a Round loss. The round loss due to a pause could simultaneously result in a game loss if the pausing player’s opponent is on game point, as well as a set loss if the opponent is on set point. If a pause occurs during a move or animation and after the game has been unpaused, the round or game ends (example: a player is K.O.’ed) with no further inputs from either player, the pausing player will not be penalized a round/game, and the set will continue.
- Double K.O./Draw/Self-Destruct Moves
- If a game ends with a Double K.O. or due to a self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the outcome. If the result is a draw, players continue to play (as per system design) until a winner can be determined. Neither player will receive a win on their tally in the event of a double K.O./draw.
- Character Color Selection
- If there is a dispute in character colors or team colors, the players will play one rock paper scissors game to determine who gets the color.
- Color Request Clause
- Players may request that their opponent change colors to accommodate colorblindness or if their color is indistinguishable from the stage background. The request must be made before the game starts. Players may not use Ultimate Edition colors on any character for any reason.
- Warm-ups
- Warm-up periods, button checks, and “handwarmers” may not exceed 60 seconds on the game clock. Violation of this rule may result in a game loss at the discretion of the Tournament Organizer.
- Tardiness
- Anyone who is not present for their set by 10 minutes past the scheduled start time of the round is subject to a loss of the set. If the player is in the Winner’s Bracket, this will put the player into the Loser’s Bracket. If the player is in the Loser’s Bracket, this will eliminate the player from the tournament.

- Competition Rules
- Selection of Playing Side
The playing side (which side is the 1P side and which side is the 2P side) of both players shall follow the instructions of the tournament management.
- CHARACTER SELECTION:
There are two methods of selecting characters for offline competitions. Standard and Double Blind. It is understood that if the players do not discuss on the character selection method, the Standard method will be used. If the players cannot reach a consensus on the character selection method, the judges will apply the Double-Blind method.
2.1. Standard method
Both players will choose the character to use at any given time. This is a free choice. The players choose the character of their choice and begin play. Once either player has finished selecting a character, they can no longer choose to apply the Double-Blind method.
2.2. Double Blind method
The players must request the Double-Blind system in an unambiguous manner before the other player has finished selecting his/her character. If a player wishes to play Double Blind, the player on the left (1P) decides which character he or she will choose, and then overhears his or her choice to the referee. The referee then signals the player on the right (2P) to choose a character. When the player on the right (2P) has made his choice, the Tournament Organizer allows the player on the left (1P) to choose the character that he chose first.
- Match progression
After both players have chosen their characters, the players begin the first BATTLE of the match; at the end of the BATTLE, the following rules apply.
3.1. The MATCH ends when either player takes the specified number of BATTLEs.
3.2. Once either player has taken the prescribed number of BATTLEs, the winner of the match reports the result to the referee.
3.3. The player who took the BATTLE does not have the right to change sides; if the player who lost the BATTLE does not wish to move, he may not change sides.
3.4. The player who wins the preceding BATTLE must continue to use the same character and same control type.
3.5. The player who loses the preceding BATTLE may freely choose the next character and control type.
3.6. If a BATTLE ends in a DRAW GAME, the result of that BATTLE shall be null and void, and the BATTLE shall be played again with the same character and control type.
3.7. Controller settings and button configurations can only be changed before the start of the BATTLE.
- Reporting rule violations
If a player violates the Tournament Rules during the tournament, the following rules will apply to correct the rule violation.
4.1. It is the responsibility of the athlete entering the tournament to discover and immediately report any and all violations of the Tournament Rules to the Tournament Organizers.
4.2. Any rule violations other than during the game must be reported to the Tournament Organizer before the game begins (e.g., a change of character by the player who took the first BATTLE of the match).
4.3. Players may not interrupt a game in progress to address a rule violation other than during the game; interrupting a game in progress to address a rule violation other than during the game shall constitute abandonment of the ROUND by the person who interrupted the game.
4.4. Interrupting a game to report a rule violation is permitted only when such violation occurs during the game.
4.5. If a game in progress is interrupted and a rule violation is pointed out, but it is an error, the person who interrupted the game has abandoned the ROUND.
4.6. Rule violations must be reported at the time they occur. Otherwise, the violation will be considered unexplained.
4.7. The Tournament Organizer may report any rule violation on behalf of the players.
4.8. If the Tournament Organizer interrupts the game and points out a rule violation, which was an error, both players will choose the same character, control type, and side to start the game over with the best possible situation reproduction. In this case, there will be no disqualification.
4.9. Only the Tournament Organizer and the players in the game in question may interrupt a game to point out an infraction.
- Dispute
5.1. In the event of any dispute in an online tournament, the players involved must submit screenshots or share videos with the Tournament Organizers.
5.2. CAPCOM will resolve disputes on an individual basis.
- Others
6.1. A match cannot be a draw in any tournament.
6.2. The inevitable defeat rule applies. Inevitable defeat means that if a player has properly won the round in question (e.g., with a move to defeat an opponent hit), but pauses before the game has awarded him the victory icon, he still wins the game. A common example of this rule might be a case where player 1 hits player 2 with a Super Arts, but because the Super Arts is a grabbing move, no damage is done until the last hit is processed. In this case, player 2 would still have been properly defeated by ROUND. If there is a disagreement as to whether a technique KO’d the other player, the judges or Tournament Organizers will unpause the match to check the result of the technique, and if the opponent was not knocked down by the technique, the player who interrupted the game play will be considered to have lost the ROUND in question.
6.3. In each tournament, the Tournament Organizer may present additional rules that are not mentioned in these Rules, and players must also follow the additional rules presented by the Tournament Organizer.
6.4. These Rules are intended to make the tournament run as fair and smooth as possible. However, unforeseen circumstances may require special measures, and in such cases, CAPCOM or the Tournament Organizer reserves the right to change any part of the Tournament Rules or exclude players at its sole discretion, for any reason and at any time.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Type: Singles
November 1st 2025
A. Tournament Rules
- Controller Requirements
Players are required to bring their own controllers. The following controllers are permitted for use: Gamecube Controller, Wireless Pro controller, Joycons. Joycons may not be removed from their Switches without the owner’s consent. Switches may not be removed from their docks without the owner’s consent. All players in a set must have their controllers connected to the same console.
“Box”-style controllers, as well as any other controllers, may be allowed at the TO’s(Tournament Organizer’s) discretion.
- Set Length
All tournament sets will be a best-of-3 games unless otherwise specified by event-specific rules. Rules below do not change between the set format.
- Character/Stage Pick Procedure
Players will begin their set by first announcing the characters they will play for the first game. Players may request a blind selection for character. If any player requests a blind selection, a third party will be privately informed of each player’s selection separately and then will confirm those selections aloud as the players choose them. After these characters have been selected, players will begin striking stages.
For the first game of the set, stage bans will take place with a P1-P2-P2-P1 format(the first player bans one stage, then the second player bans two stages, then the first player bans another stage), however for subsequent games the player who won the previous game will ban 3 stages and the losing player will pick from those that remain.
For the first game of the set, players may either mutually agree on which player will ban first or play RPS(Rock, Paper, Scissors) to determine which player will ban first. If playing RPS, the winner of RPS decides who will ban first.
Players may select a different character after each game. Each player must announce their character for the next game before stage bans or selection occurs. The player that won the previous game must select their character first.
- Stage Agreement Clause
Players may select any LEGAL stage if they both agree on it. Players may not play on illegal stages or change the length of a set. If this is violated, both players will be subject to complete disqualification from the event.
- Stalling
Stalling, or intentionally making the game unplayable or delaying the play of a set, is banned and at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the game for the player that initiated the action.
- Self-Destruct Moves
If a game ends with a self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner. If a sudden death occurs, a standard sudden death play-off game applies (see 1.7).
- Sudden Death
If a game goes to Sudden Death, the winner is determined by stocks and percentage at the time the game ends. If both players are tied in stocks, the player with the lower percentage is the winner. In the event of a percentage tie, or a game in which both players lose their last stock simultaneously, a 1-stock tiebreaker will be played with a 3-minute time limit. The results of an in-game 300% Sudden Death do not count. If Sudden Death occurs in a Sudden Death game, this process is repeated.
- Alting/Smurfing
Players will be immediately disqualified from the tournament if they are found using an alternate tag/tags and/or hide your identity to manipulate the bracket/seeding. The only exception to this rule is if the player notifies a TO prior to the registration end date.
- Disqualification Timers
When a match is called and set to begin, all players involved are expected to be present and available as soon as possible. In the event that a player is not available and/or unable to be reached, a disqualification timer may be placed on the player at the TO’s discretion. The duration of this timer will be set at the TO’s discretion.
Players are expected to report to their matches on time and automatic DQ’s will be enforced save for special circumstances (Up to TO discretion).
After a set begins, players are expected to play out games with only a reasonable time taken between games for preparation. Any player in a set may call for a 100-second time limit to start the next game. This time limit begins when a player requests it to the other players in the set, and it will not apply if no request is made. A TO can be requested to track the timer, as well.
If Grand Finals resets, any player in the set can request a 5-minute break. No penalties will apply during this time.
If a player is not ready after the time limit, they will face escalating consequences, ranging from verbal warning to event disqualification. TOs can make exceptions to this rule at their own discretion.
- Collusion and Coaching
Players suspected of colluding may be immediately disqualified from the tournament. This includes intentionally throwing a game, splitting a payout, or committing any other form of bracket manipulation. The TO reserves the right to deny payout of event winnings to any player suspected of colluding.
Coaching, defined as anyone not involved in a match giving instruction or strategic assistance of any kind to players in an active match, is not allowed. Players who suspect their opponents are receiving coaching in the middle of a game should call over a Tournament Organizer who will determine if a warning, game loss or event disqualification is warranted given the circumstances. Coaching between individual games is allowed if all participating players give consent; if an opponent seeks or receives coaching without securing the agreement of his opponent, this is grounds for TO involvement. (Note that cheering and words of encouragement, i.e. “Let’s go!” or “Mess them up!” are not considered coaching.)
- Competitive Integrity
In all competitions there should be a fair playing field for all players.
Every encounter must be played according to the rules until it is complete and the result on the bracket page entered. Any encounter that did not take place, should be deleted. Matches will be opened only by admins to delete exceptions. Matches that did not take place will be considered fake matches and will be punished.
It is not allowed for participants to bet on matches in their own competition, with the exception of making a wager against your set opponent(money match). Betting against yourself will get you disqualified and potentially banned.
Organizers reserve the right to withhold payout if any of these are violated.
- Misinterpretation/Misconfiguration
Games or sets are not to be replayed due to a misinterpretation of the rules OR misconfiguration of game settings, excluding player-specific settings. Game settings should be configured according to section 2.1. It is the players’ responsibilities to ask the TO for any clarification of the rule set in the event of a disagreement, and the outcome of a game or set will not be changed after the fact unless under extreme circumstances, judgment is reserved for tournament staff.
In the event players begin a game with misconfigured player-specific controls (controller settings, etc.), players may not back out of a game to correct their settings once ten seconds have passed. After this time limit has passed, players must use their misconfigured settings, subject to tournament staff discretion.
- Force Majeure Clause
In the event of a game being interrupted by external, impartial conditions (e.g. power gets cut, safety concerns arise, etc.) the player at fault will forfeit the game (Considered a loss). If neither player is at fault for the interruption, the game will either continue from the same point once reasonably possible or reset with a designated stock count and percentage for each player, at the discretion of the TO.
- Final Rulings
If any unforeseen situations occur, judgment of tournament staff is final. Rules may be altered between phases of a tournament in the best interests of the event. (Example: A game-breaking glitch is discovered on a stage mid-tournament that could be exploited. The stage may need to be removed from legal play for the remainder of the event.)

After each game of the set, before counterpicking, the player who won the previous game may ban three stages from the full stage list. These bans do not persist throughout the set. The loser of the previous game then chooses from the remaining stages.
If Final Destination or Battlefield is chosen as a stage, a variant may be chosen by either player, following the list of banned variants listed in 2.2.
Music Selection Clause
The player who chooses the stage for each game of the set can choose to either select the music, let the game pick randomly, or permit the opponent to select the music, with music exceptions at the TO’s discretion. The opponent may veto the music choice for any of the following reasons:
The player selecting the music is not listening to game audio
The player selecting the music is not using headphones or an external speaker to listen to game audio while the opponent is.

If anything occurs within any game that results in unforeseen consequences (e.g. characters become invisible, sudden teleportation occurs, characters become affixed to other bodies, etc.), gameplay should continue uninterrupted unless the change renders the game unplayable for one or more players. In this situation, players should inform their pool captain or tournament staff for resolution.
- Mii Fighter Clause
Any player who intends to use a Mii during a set must declare so before the set. Players are required to inform their opponent of their chosen Mii’s moveset, listed in the format “XXXX.” Any combination of moves may be used, but any movesets that any player may want to use during a set must be created before the set begins.
- Offstage Stalling Clause (Chicago Stalling Rule)
Offstage stalling is defined as intentionally remaining offstage for an extended amount of time with little to no counterplay available to the opponent. Any player that uses a single special move more than five times without returning to stage(NOT the ledge) is subject to the following penalties:
- On first occurrence, forfeiture of the current stock
- On second occurrence, automatic loss of the current game
- On third occurrence, immediate disqualification from the tournament
- Patch
Tournaments will use whatever the patch is currently live when the tournament takes place.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT & RULES.
- Double Elimination. Each Tournament Event will be played as a double elimination (a “Double Elimination”) bracket competition, in which Players compete in Matches starting from what is known as the winner’s side of the bracket (the “Winner’s Bracket”). If a Player loses a Match while in the Winner’s Bracket, that Player will be moved to the loser’s side of the bracket (the “Loser’s Bracket”). If a Player loses a Match while in the Loser’s Bracket, that Player is eliminated and will no longer advance further in the bracket for that Tournament Event. The winner of the Winner’s Bracket will play against the winner of the Losers Bracket in the Grand Finals of the Tournament Event, as set forth below.
- Match Play.
- All Matches will be best-of-three, in which the Player who wins two (2) Sets first wins the Match, with the exception that the Winner’s Bracket finals, Losers Bracket semi-finals, Losers Bracket finals, and Grand Finals of each Tournament Event bracket will be best-of-five, in which the Player who wins three (3) Sets first wins the Match.
- The winner of any single Set is determined when the Game awards the win to that Player or upon the opponent causing a match disruption or other violation of the Rules as determined by the Tournament Organizer staff member.
- During a Match, the winner of any single Set must comply with the following winner lock rules:
- At the start of a Match:
- Players select their sides. Players may mutually agree on who sits on left and right side, corresponding to Player 1 and Player 2, respectively, at the start of a Set. Players are committed to this selection for the entirety of the Match. If Players cannot agree to a Side Selection, they will play a Best-of-Three Rock-Paper-Scissors to determine who picks their side first. The winner of the Best-of-Three Rock-Paper-Scissors picks their side first and will be committed to that selection for the entirety of the Match.
- Each Player selects their character from all selectable characters and the stage is selected at random;
- After any single Set, the winner is “locked” into their character and they are not permitted to switch their character until or unless they lose a subsequent single Set;
- All single Sets are loser’s choice; and
- The loser of any single Set may choose between returning to stage select and choosing a new randomly selected stage or returning to character select to choose a new character and a new randomly selected stage.
- At the start of a Match:
- All Matches must use the following in-Game Settings:
- Tournament Settings: Default
- The tournament console used for streaming must use Preset 1
- Screen Settings
- In-Battle Status Settings: On
- Versus (“VS”) Mode
- Rounds: 3 out of 5
- Time Limit: 60 seconds
- Stage: Random
- Special Style is allowed during Match Play
- Character Customizations: Off
- All Character Preset Costumes are legal for Tournament use, unless BNE determines, in its sole discretion, that certain costumes give an unfair advantage.
- Players cannot use the same Preset. Should both Players wish to use the same Preset, they will play a Best-Of-One Rock-Paper-Scissors tiebreaker to determine who may use their preferred Preset Costume for the duration of the Match.
- If a Character Customization or one of the above listed Presets that cannot be used are used, the Set is subject to not being scored. Players are responsible for immediately finishing the Set with one (1) Player holding forward for the remainder of the rounds to quickly return to the lobby and restart the Set.
- Tournament Settings: Default
- Players must use a Game version on one of the following platforms as determined by the Tournament Organizer or as otherwise set forth herein:
- PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Steam.
- Player Options. Prior to commencement of a Match, Players may exercise the following options:
- Blind Pick. Players may request a method of character selection known as blind pick (“Blind Pick”) to keep their character selection secret until the first Set begins. In the Blind Pick process, the Players will each tell a Tournament Organizer staff member, in secret, their character selection for the first Set. Players will then select their character with the Tournament Organizer staff member validating their selections. If a Player purposely does not select the character they told the Tournament Organizer staff member, that Player will forfeit that single Set.
- Rule Violations. Players must bring up any rule violations or disruptions prior to starting or restarting a Set. If any rule violation or disruptions occur during a Set, Players must immediately notify the Tournament Organizer. If Players complete a Set without raising a rule violation or disruption, the Set will count.
- Draws. In the event of a tied Set declared by a Double K.O. or timeout on the Game screen, the Set will not be scored and both Players will replay the tied Set with the same character selections.
- Grand Finals. The “Grand Finals” is a Match series comprised of up to two (2) best-of-five Matches between the final two (2) Players left in a Tournament Event. In the event the Player from the Winner’s Bracket wins the first Match, the Grand Finals immediately ends, giving the Player from the Loser’s Bracket their second and eliminating loss, and making the Player from the Winner’s Bracket the overall winner of the Tournament Event. In the event that the Player from the Loser’s Bracket wins the first Match, thereby giving the Player from the Winner’s Bracket their first loss, a second best-of-five Match will be played. The Players may choose different characters and exercise any pre-Match options for this new Match. The Player that wins this final Match, thereby giving the other Player their second and eliminating loss from the Tournament Event, is declared the winner of such Tournament Event. For the sake of clarity, the foregoing shall not apply to Global Finals, the details of which are specified in Section 3.
- Missing Players. Players must be present at the call time for a Match. Players that are not present and ready to play within ten (10) minutes of this call time are subject to Match forfeiture.
- Match Disruptions. If a Player intentionally or accidentally causes a pause in a Match, whether by pressing the Options button or by experiencing a controller disconnection, the Player that caused the pause will forfeit the current round of the Set. If a Match disruption occurs that is out of control of the Players of the Match, such as action of another Player’s un-desynced controller or a Game software crash or console hardware failure making Players unable to continue a Set, the Tournament Organizer staff member shall order the Players to restart the Set, but with the same round count from the point that the Match disruption occurred. Players are responsible for starting a new Set and holding forward for the necessary number of rounds to quickly return to the round count that was achieved before a Match disruption.
- Coaching. Each Tournament Organizer may provide their own set of rules for coaching. If none are provided, the following set of rules apply:
- Players may designate one (1) individual to be their coach during a Match.
- Coaching will only be allowed for the Player that lost the previous Set.
- Players may consult with the coach only one (1) time for the Match.
- Players may consult with the coach for a maximum of one (1) minute.
- Coaching while a Set is in play is not allowed and is subject to Set forfeiture.
- If a rule violation occurs, a Player can notify a Tournament Organizer.
- Tournament Organizers may issue a warning for any rule violations.
- Failure to adhere to coaching rules after a warning from the Judge will result in forfeiting the next Set.
- Controller Usage. A Player may not program functions on a controller using methods outside the basic functions of the Game, including, but not limited to, programmable and turbo controllers. The following are sequences are prohibited:
- A single input that results in the execution of multiple subsequent inputs.
- Combination inputs except for those that can be applied within the game’s controller settings.
- A single button input which results in a directional movement input and an attack input.
- BNE and/or the Tournament Organizer reserve the right to inspect a Player’s controller to ensure compliance with these Rules, non-compliance of which may result in disciplinary action, including, but not limited, to disqualification, suspension, and/or banning.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Type: Singles
November 2nd 2025
- This tournament is single-elimination.
- Set Length
All tournament matches will be in sets of four tracks with exception of the finals which are a set of six tracks. Two players will advance each set until the final four players are determined.
- Set Procedure
- All players will simultaneously have 99 seconds to select their characters, karts, kart pieces and driving options. Driving options include smart steering, tilt controls, and auto-accelerate. Characters, karts, kart pieces, and driving options are locked after confirmation and may not change during the set.
- The players will play the first track in the set.
- After a track is finished, all players may rest up to 30 seconds before continuing to the next track. Players who choose to not take this rest break may do so only if all other players agree to continue.
- Repeat steps two and three for all remaining tracks on the round.
- Pausing
- Pausing, through the pause button or home button, is only legal for the purpose of summoning a Tournament Official, or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a track loss to the player who pauses the game. If a pause occurs, a Tournament official must be called during the pause to issue a resume countdown. This rule also applies to controllers which cause the game to revert to the Switch home screen.
- Color Request Clause
- Players may request that their opponent change colors to accommodate color blindness, or if their color is indistinguishable from the other team color or the stage background. The request must be made before the game starts. For example, requesting that a player use Red Yoshi to reduce confusion and distinguish from another player using Blue Yoshi.
- Coaching Violations
- Coaching is defined as an attempt to give advice to any player during a tournament set. Coaching is only permitted when the Grand Finals reset occurs. In this instance, players are given a two-minute break in which coaching may occur. In all other instances, coaching is prohibited during the duration of a tournament set, whether during a game, or in between games in a set. Tournament Officials reserve the right to discern what qualifies as “coaching” and the severity of the violation. If coaching occurs, the coaching party will receive penalties as outlined below:
- First offense (minor): A verbal warning is given to the player and the coach. This warning persists for the entire event.
- Second offense (major): The player receives a game loss and/or the coach is removed from the tournament station.
- Third offense (severe): The coach(es) and player will receive complete disqualification and removal from the event.
- Cheering vs. coaching
Cheering is recognized as such when using nondescript statements — for example, “let’s go,” “you got this,” or “mess them up!” These are not seen as coaching violations as they do not qualify as advice that can be applied to gameplay.
Coaching violations are typically highly specific statements that may point out habits, specific options, or timings — for example, “watch out for the green shell,” “he’s got bananas” or “blue shell coming!”- Tardiness
- Anyone who is not present for their set 10 minutes past the scheduled start time of the round is subject to a total disqualification from the event.
